i’m kinda tired so i’m not sure what words i should put here. my goal today was to see if i could hit 100k for @cryptospa’s contest. it took me 12 hours of running and fasthiking to get there. next time i probably shouldn’t wait till 10am to start.
i have pictures to add here but they will have to wait till the morning, or whenever i manage to drag myself out of bed tomorrow. i might actually just die in my sleep tonight. as usual today’s activity was a bad idea and a stupid thing that i can’t recommend highly enough.
hope everyone is having a nice weekend!
EDIT: extra words and pictures now added, including screenshots for people like blueboar#5438 who don't think 100k is possible, &c, &c. i didn't die in my sleep last night just so everyone's clear on that point.
okay then.
so yesterday i participated in @cryptospa's Catch Me If You Can contest for the 2nd time, and as with my 1st time it was just all kinds of boatloads of fun. i reached 83k last time, so naturally my stupid brain got the idea that 100k would be a good goal to shoot for this time. so that was the goal i had in mind as i began my saturday.
i had planned to rise early so as to reach my goal at a reasonable hour, but because i am a lazy person i slept in instead, took my time drinking coffee in the morning, and then by the time i finally convinced myself to get out of the house it was like 9:45am. there is a trailhead pretty close to my home, and that's where i had decided to start by running a few out-and-backs. so i drove there, and got started at just before 10am.
the photo at the top ^^ and the photo immediately below show views of the area i did out-and-backs on, henceforth known as location #1.
after about 30k steps and 3 hours elapsed, i got bored of location #1 and drove about 10 minutes south to another trailhead. i will very creatively refer to this 2nd location as location #2. it involved a nice long hill climb that i fasthiked up and ran down a couple times.
the next 6 photos are views of location #2.
of course, it was only a matter of time before i got bored of location #2. it was only about 2 hours worth of time, to be exact. i had added another 19k steps and was close to 50k total when i left location #2 and returned to location #1, where i spent the rest of the day and a couple hours of the night, doing a combination of running and fasthiking. or, maybe it would be more accurate to call it averagehiking… because i definitely slowed down later in the afternoon/evening.
all in all, a fairly enjoyable day with almost perfect sunny colorado weather, except for some high winds and clouds that made an appearance later in the day.
would i attempt this bad idea and stupid thing again? yes, of course, because i'm an idiot and i never learn.
now, for all the doubters out there,
in particular blueboar#5438,
who had the balls to call me out in the actifit #reporting-abuse channel in discord,
here are some screenshots that should serve as proof that i did what i said i did:
nobody gets to question my integrity and accomplishments without having a good deal of snark and sarcasm, and occasionally rage, tossed back at them. if anyone ever doubts me in the future feel free to reach out to me in a dm on discord and i will happily share with you my full resume as an ultrarunner and endurance athlete. that should put any doubts to rest.
@cryptospa, once again thank you sir for hosting a fun and inspiring contest for all of us to push ourselves and see what we are capable of! you are motivating people and making fitness fun :)
