Could Steem handle real mass adoption right now?
2-3 thousands or 10 thousands accounts a day?
I think it can't... That must be improved before a bigger mainstream promotion.
But the contest itself is for sure a very good thing.

Honestly? I don’t think any blockchain could handle mass adoption right now. It’s an ongoing process. Mass adoption starts within a community and grows outwards. The platform grows, learns and adapts along with it.
This is all very much an experiment, and slow and steady is the way to mass adoption, not over night hype. As we want it to become the norm, not just the most recent fad which will be forgotten quickly. That takes time.
This place needs a lot of work, but it also is a pretty amazing place as is. We grow together 🙂

It might not be able to handle this, but we have to start somewhere. We've improved on options of people signing up to accounts and what have you.
