Many photos often show only a small part of the big picture and of course do not tell the whole story. Not only by adding, but also by leaving out, we can create completely different moods and meanings from what actually prevailed at the moment the photo was taken. Images have always served as manipulative elements, long before they could move. Since the advent of film, and at the latest since the arrival of the manifold digital tools that make image editing possible even for amateurs, there are no longer any limits to manipulation and deception. It's probably the same with photos as it is with statistics: it's better not to trust any photo that you haven't taken yourself.
Fortunately, I already have a lot of pictures in my archive and new ones are constantly being added. It's just too much fun for me to take photos of all kinds of subjects and from all kinds of perspectives and to see how the scenery in front of me will look later on in the picture. Fun is always a good reason, and we shouldn't let anyone talk us out of it.
Today's two pictures are made in front of the same object, which so far wants to remain a little hidden. But maybe there is one or the other among you who already knows where I took these pictures. Of course the background is still a bit vague, but for Japan experts the answer should not be impossible and I would be very pleased if someone wants to out himself as such.
So let's see if someone presents us with the answer. Otherwise, you'll have to wait a few more days until I'll come up with the whole picture for you to see. Well then, the time is running...

Viele Fotos zeigen oft nur einen kleinen Ausschnitt des großen Ganzen und erzählen dabei natürlich nicht die ganze Geschichte. Nicht nur mit Hinzufügen, sondern auch mit Weglassen kann man ganz andere Stimmungen und Bedeutungen erzeugen, als eigentlich im Augenblick des Fotos geherrscht haben. Bilder haben immer schon als manipulative Elemente gedient, und das schon lange, bevor sie laufen konnten. Seitdem der Film dazu gekommen ist und spätestens seit es die mannigfaltigen digitalen Instrumente gibt, die die Bildbearbeitung selbst Laien ermöglicht, gibt es für Manipulation und Täuschung keine Grenzen mehr. Wahrscheinlich ist es mit Fotos wie mit Statistiken, man sollte besser keinem Foto trauen, das man nicht selber aufgenommen hat.
Zum Glück habe ich selber bereits eine ganze Menge an Bildern in meinem Archiv und ständig kommen auch noch neue hinzu. Es macht mir ja auch einfach zu viel Spaß, immer und überall die verschiedensten Motive aus den verschiedensten Perspektiven abzulichten und zu schauen, wie sich die Szene vor mir später im Bild macht. Spaß ist immer ein guter Grund, und den sollten wir uns auf keinen Fall ausreden lassen.
Die heutigen zwei Bilder sind vor dem gleichen Objekt gemacht, welches bisher noch ein wenig unerkannt bleiben möchte. Aber vielleicht gibt es ja doch den einen oder anderen unter euch, der jetzt bereits schon weiß, wo ich diese Bilder aufgenommen habe. Klar ist der Hintergrund noch ein wenig vage gehalten, aber für Japanexperten sollte die Antwort nicht unmöglich sein und ich wäre sehr erfreut, falls sich jemand als solcher hier outen möchte.
Also schauen wir mal, ob jemand uns die Lösung präsentiert. Ansonsten müsst ihr noch ein paar Tage warten, bis ich euch das ganze Bild vor die Augen halten werde. Also dann, die Zeit läuft...
