Ablaze's Hearty Turkey Meatballls, with seasonal veg
Herself sometimes buys Turkey meatballs with the shopping. Here's a nice recipe to pull together with the meatballs, and to be honest any diced meat will work here, but turkey meatballs are especially good.
I sometimes make my own meatballs from scratch, but on this occasion, I opted for the easier option and as I said my wife bought them in the local supermarket. I'll do a post some other time making them from scratch, which is always the healthier option.
Before we get into the ingredients and recipe, let's think about food for a minute. We ingest it every day, but do we really give it the level of thought and discourse it warrants?
I'll give you a subtle clue.
Not a fucking chance of it! For the majority, we ingest "food" that is ultra processed and loaded with added sugars, salts and every E and additive under the sun. How some of it passes as food, is frankly beyond me.
Many of the "foods" are mass produced and highly marketed. Is it any surprise that we have a global pandemic of obesity, autoimmune disease and diabetes in Western countries?
If you take nothing else from this post, take this, you are what you eat and it will dictate your health in your later years and how many years you have. Want to see those grandkids and even great grand kids? Well, start paying more attention to what you eat people. Sorry if I sound preachy, but I really really care about this subject.
Bring a solution
Don't bitch and moan about things unless you come armed with a viable alternative or solution. I try to live this way. I don't want to be preaching about the bad food and not offer a solution or a way out of this mess, so let me offer something.
Let me start out by saying that not everybody can afford to do this, which is a problem right off the bat, so I would advocate for government support for poorer coherts of society to get food stamps for specific healthy foods. Have a list of healthy foods that they can choose from and give state money so that they can have these healthy foods for their families. If they want to buy fast food and processed shite, they can but not with the state support, that should be healthy foods only.
So my advise is to minimise how many packaged, tinned or processed foods that you consume.
Instead, opt for whole foods like nuts, legumes, vegetables, fruits and be like your parents or grandparents and use recipes and make things from scratch.
I accept that it takes more money and time to do this, but this is your health folks and the health of those you love, so the investment is worthwhile and pays off. How? Well statistically you'll live a longer and healthier life, so it should be a no-brainer.
Practice what you preach, isn't that what they say?
Ok, now back to my meatballs! Again, sorry if that sounded preachy, but I really care about this.

Turkey Meatballls
Handful of Cherry Tomatoes
1 yellpw pepper
2 Carrots
Some chopped Scallion
Mushrooms
Thumb of ginger
3 cloves crushed garlic
1 red chilli
Grated Cheddar cheese
Tin of chopped tomatoes
Olive oil spray
Spaghetti Pasta
STEP 1: Chop your chilli (and remember not to rub your eyes afterwards 😨) crush your garlic, chop your ginger. Put your frying pan on a medium heat and add some olive oil, the chopped and crushed items and your turkey meatballs.
No matter what you're cooking, get those flavours like garlic, chilli and ginger in early and they'll infuse nicely into the meat and result in taste explosion when the time to eat arrives.
STEP 2: Put your carrots on the boil. I usually put on extra carrots for my kids dinner as well. Two birds and all that! Also, time to cook your Spaghetti.
STEP 3: Chop all of your other veges and have them ready to go.
STEP 4: Add your chopped peppers, par cooked carrots (steal some from carrots and broccoli on the boil for kids) and mushrooms, with some chopped tomatoes. Cook on medium for 3 or 4 minutes.
STEP 5: Now let's add our cherry tomatoes and scallions to the mix.
STEP 6: Our pasta should be ready now. Remember once you've drainded your pasta, pour some boiling water over it to remove any excess starch. Then add a few spoons of our sauce and mix it in with the pasta, trust me this will elevate your pasta dishes to the next level!
STEP 7: We're ready to plate up now and add our cheddar cheese which will melt in nicely. I forgot to take a photo when I plated up though, as I was too excited to tuck in! Here it is in the pan though!
Mmmmm... looks good if I may say myself!
Bon appetite!!
You're done! Time to tuck in and enjoy the fruit of your labours!
Thanks as always for stopping by everyone.
Peace Out
