The skill of mustering
I'm a musterer.
It's just one of those things I'm good at. The fridge is seemingly empty and bare. There's always a few bits and pieces there to muster into a meal. It just takes a little bit of creativity and will power not to pick up the phone and order an unhealthy takeaway.
It happened recently. It was over a week since the weekly shop and lots of the staples were nowhere to be seen, so it was muster time.
The first thing that junped out at me was these eggs.
Yep, I can do something with those.
What else have we knocking around?
Still a bit of cheddar cheese there and a little bit of ham. They'll work.
There was some greens knocking around too, some lettuce, cherry tomatoes and peppers and suddenly it was looking like a nice tasty plate for lunch.
I often add chopped tomatoes, chopped lettuce and a little bit of sweet chilli sauce when throwing a rough and ready salad together.
Grab a knife and fork
Not too shabby at all folks. Not a meal fit for a king, but pretty decent and it certainly put a hole in my hunger until the grocery shop was done soon after.
Bon appetite!!!
Are you a musterer too?
Or would you sooner reach for the phone and order a takeaway?
I'd love to hear about it in the comments below.
Sláinte and Peace out.
