One month ended and another started... which means? It's time for another monthly food photo collection by yours truly!!! Last time, I shared all the photos I took of the food we shared here in our house. If you missed the April Edition, check it out below.
Now, let's go through the food photo collection I have for the month of May. This is excluding the photos I already shared on Mother's Day as well as on one other occasion! Enjoy and get those tummy and taste buds ready!
Starting off with this very sweet and delicious mango. Although mango is available all year round in the Philippines, it's usually in season around this time of year. The mango in May was among the sweetest and most delicious I've ever had!
Breaded ham... Yep, it's just your ordinary cooked ham with breadcrumbs. Sometimes, when we don't have time to make complicated dishes, we resort to preserved foods that are easy to cook or prepare. I know they're not healthy, but once in a while, it's OK to have them.
This one is deep fried squid ring, but we often call it calamares in my country. As you know, I'm allergic to seafood, so I wasn't able to enjoy this dish. However, my parents, especially my mama, love it. She had a great time munching on these delicious-looking squid rings.
While my parents were enjoying eating their calamares, they cooked chorizo for me. It's a spiced smoked sausage. I also like eating this from time to time. The one they prepared is a bigger version, but I actually prefer the smaller one and make a grilled skewer out of it.
It's creamy chicken macaroni I and my mama prepared. I remember we made quite a lot because some people were helping us fix our fence and we shared some to them so they could bring back to their families. I really liked this dish especially the carrots were crunchy, fresh and sweet. Yummy~
After all those processed and fried foods, let's cleanse our body especially our digestive system with some veggies. It's sauteed veggies with pork. The soup's color became orangey because of the squash. I really like this kind of taste. It's so indulging!
Do you guys like fried dried fish? I know the smell isn't to the liking of many, but it's actually delicious. And this fried danggit is so pretty, isn't it? I used to eat a lot of this in the past, but for some reasons, after I had a surgery, my tummy couldn't take it in my system and it's forced out. It's sad, but I just admire it through pictures or through my eyes now. At least my parents enjoyed it. ^^
It's fried chicken laying fried scrambled eggs. haha Since my mama knew I'm taking food photos for my blog to share every month, she also tried to improve her plating. It looks gorgeous, though... and these are so crunchy and juicy. Even better than Jollibee... hahah
After a series of dried food, we have this chicken nilaga. <3 It's chicken soup with clear broth and mixed in with some potatoes, cabbage, bell pepper, tomatoes, chili among others. It's hot in the Philippines, but we still love hot soups. It's the same with eating ice cream on a rainy day, so comforting! <3
And lastly, we had mama's style chopsuey. It's another kind of vegetable dish... I love eating broccoli and cauliflower, so I always look forward to eating this dish that my mama makes. She also put some chicken in it since there were some slices left from our previous meals. haha
And that's it for May edition. We did have a lot of fried food this month, but we also had some healthier ones. I wonder what's in store for June. I think rainy season started early, and when it rains, we don't usually cook since our kitchen is outdoor. I still hope to be able to share some food photo for this month, though. So, please look forward to it. (^_^)/
