RE: The raised garden beds are not holding up as well as I hoped

Would rebar or some such driven through the middle tying the long sides together work?

All of my wooden beds last no longer than two years and sometimes only one year. I have leftover roofing metal and thought about trying a few of those, but the older I get the more I am looking at the tall metal beds sold online. Decisions, decisions.

Hmm maybe it would.. but I think the way to attach it to the 2x8s may be difficult.

I thought about doing the beds with metal.. kind of wished I did that now, would probably be holding up better.

The way I remember seeing it done was to insert the rebar completely through the 2x8s bolted from the outside. On long beds would probably need 2 or3 ties. It ties the 2x8 together preventing the sides bulging out and therefore sliding. Might have to displace some dirt to find the exit hole. Best to insert them before filling, I suppose. Hell, it might not even work lol

I'm still debating on the metal too, but might go prefab
