One of my favorite foods to prepare using the air fryer is tofu. It's healthy, delicious and very easy to prepare. In the past, papa didn't really like tofu but since we've been having it more often these days, he has started liking it as well.
In my past air fryer diary post, I made a tofu and tuna patty, but this time, I'm just gonna share the simplest way to prepare tofu.
We don't usually choose depending on the brand of tofu because for some reasons, it isn't that popular in our nearby supermarket. They don't have a lot of choices, so we usually just buy what's available. This time, we got this brand and it was less watery and a bit firmer than the other brands we've bought in the past.
Despite it being less watery, I still tried to get rid of the water from the tofu by pressing before cutting them in cubes.
Before cooking them, I covered them with a mixture of black pepper, garlic salt and granules. This is also the mixture I use every time I try to air fry some sweet potato fries. Yes, we use sweet potato because the price of potato these days is high. xD Anyway, going back to the tofu...
After brushing a bit of canola oil into the rack, I placed the tofu inside. I tried to separate them so they'll cook better. When air frying tofu, I usually set the air fryer to 200 degrees Celsius for 13-15 minutes. Actually, 10 minutes is enough, but I want it crispier, so I usually add a few more minutes.
To add more flavor to our air fried dishes, we usually keep this sauce. It's a mixture of banana ketchup, canola oil, garlic powder and black pepper. I just brush them around the tofu, turn them around and brush the other side as well.
Here's the first batch of our crispy air fried tofu! I didn't document the second batch, though. It was delicious! <3
Also, a couple days ago, mama cooked some Filipino sweet style spaghetti and instead of the usual hotdog, we added some fried tofu to it.
They're not that visible in this photo, but you can see one tofu block on the upper central part of the picture. Ahh~ I didn't expect tofu to be a better and healthier alternative for the usual hotdogs. Yummy~ I want to eat it again!
I want to have some tofu again... perhaps I'm cooking some on Sunday. We still have some leftover chicken patty for lunch and dinner tomorrow. haha
Anyway, I'll end this here. Thanks for checking this out! It's time to sleep since I have a morning class tomorrow! See you around! ^^
