No Electricity and Internet? No Problem!!! I Enjoyed My Little Art Class With The Kids in Our Community...

in ASEAN HIVE COMMUNITY3 years ago

As you may already know, we didn't have electricity and internet for more than two weeks after the typhoon. The first few days, we were very busy cleaning up and repairing what's needed to be repaired.

However, the week after the first one, there wasn't much to do anymore. Well, there are other things I had to do, but something interesting came up one day.

Well, it's already known in our are that one of the kids named Gab sometimes come over our place and we'd draw together. One day, he visited our house together with CJ, another kid in the neighborhood.

At first, we were just talking about mobile games, anime, etc. We reached a point when we got bored, so what I did was took out my anime magazines, some bondpaper, pencils, and coloring materials. I thought it would be nice to enjoy drawing together with my magazines as reference.

Well, CJ was reluctant to draw, so I drew for him and made him color my drawing.

That's Gab at the back trying to draw something and the little boy in front is CJ and he's coloring the Pokemon characters I drew for him.

These are some of the characters I drew. I tried drawing as fast as I can, so he can enjoy coloring. :)

Later on, Gab asked me to draw for him, too! haha He went back to his house for a bit to get his coloring materials he could share with CJ. A few moments later, another kid named JM came and asked us what we were doing. We told her we were doing a small art class and invited her to join.

It was already getting hot but these kids didn't mind. They were too focused on what they were doing. I just let them finish a few more pieces before we had our break. It was almost lunchtime and their parents were already looking for them. haha They were still so eager to continue, so I told them to just come by in the afternoon when it's no longer very hot.

I asked them to come around 4PM, but even before the time, Gab and CJ came to tell me that other kids want to join in the afternoon session. Well, I didn't have anything to do due to the situation, so I told them it's okay.

Three more kids came with them in the afternoon. JM wasn't with them, though, since she had to accompany her mom somewhere. And it turned out that most kids wanted to do some coloring activity and were afraid to draw because they think they can't do it. Well, I gave them a chance and asked them to choose a character from the magazine and I'll draw them for them.

These kids were too focused on their tasks. They're so adorable to look at. We had to stay in this space beside the store since it was still quite hot even at four in the afternoon. We needed to stay under the shade. lol

I'm glad that they're enjoying the activity we did this day. As a remembrance, I took individual pictures of them together with their work.

They excitedly showed their works to others and actually gave me their works because they said, it's their gift for me. haha How cute is that? I'll just print out these pictures soon and give them a copy as well.

Since they showed off their works to the other kids, more kids wanted to do a coloring activity as well. haha So, I asked them to pick the character they want me to draw in advance, so I can prepare it and they can just color them in the morning. Those who are done with the coloring activity on the first day were still allowed to join, but they'd have to draw, instead.

One of the reasons is that, I'm quite sure that more kids will join in the morning... and guess what? I was right! XD

In addition to those already in the picture, there were around three to four more kids who came to join later on. I just couldn't take more pictures because around lunch, my aunt and cousin suddenly came which really surprised us. They were so surprised to see a bunch of kids in our front yard, too! hahaha

We (I and the kids) actually planned to do another session the next day, but then it was rainy for a long time (even until today) and we got busy for New Year preparations and the electricity also came back, so most people started living the usual everyday lives again, including me.

It would be nice to do this activity with them again someday. I'm planning on gifting them some coloring books and coloring materials once I have extra money to spare. For now, I'd have to focus on "adulting"... my bills and responsibilities are crying. T_T

But really, these kids are so adorable. They can be overly energetic at times, but seeing them happy also made me feel happy. Somehow, being in such situation (no electricity, etc) made us do more interesting things.

I'll end this post here. Until next time!!!

PS: I want to paint... but we still don't have water, so must conserve water.. haha I'll make some art works in other forms soon!

Wow nice

Thank you!!! ^^

Welcome 😊

Thanks for sharing this amazing post. this proves that to have fun it is not necessarily necessary to have a console or the internet, sometimes the simplest things like drawing in the company of your friends can be much more fun. I would like many more children to rediscover this type of activity instead of just being closed off playing video games.

Although some kids in my area are also so much into gadgets, but it's great to see them have fun and play outside from time to time. The lack of electricity and internet made them discover more fun things that can actually enhance their artistic side. :) Thanks a lot for dropping by! ^^

Awesome!

You really do your Chopper avatar justice.

hahaha... thanks, I suppose.?.. ^^

You suppose correct :)

hahaha (^_^)v

Having no electricity enables us to actually socialize ad connect with people. I'm glad that you still enjoyed your time playing with the kids! It looks like they had lots and lots of fun together!

They did enjoyed a lot... and it's great to somehow make them discover some cool and interesting activities other than gadgets... having no electricity did have some perks. ^^

It doesn't look like these kiddos are strangers to paper and pencils, but many kids are these days. All around the world I see kids stuck to screens, so that might be one of the few upsides to Odette, some of the (spoiled) younger generation is learning how to play as we did when we were kids.

This is one thing I like about the kids here... they enjoy playing outside a lot. It reminds me of my childhood days where we used to play even until night with the bright moon and stars above us. Also, they're very curious and want to try a lot of things, so it was fun guiding and observing them. ^^ Thank you! :)

Thanks for posting in the ASEAN Hive Community.

So amazing! They are young but good at drawing😍😍

They really showed potential though most of them were scared to draw, so I let them do a coloring activity instead. :) Thanks ^^

Nothing can hinder the creativity of the children. Thanks to you for spending time with them.

That's true... it's nice to see potential and encourage them in pursuing it. Thank you! :)

The kids look so happy with their drawing 😍😍

You did a great job in guiding them 👍👍

They were happy and enjoyed a lot. Thank you so much. :)

They indeed have a great time! The same goes for me... sometimes, it's just nice to get rid of modern technology and enjoy simple activities. ^^ Thanks! :)
