It's a warm and quiet Sunday, felt like drawing something that's suits this day so here's a Marigold flower with a mix of red and black ink. The Marigold is bright yellow, has ruffled petals, and grows well in warm weather in places like Africa, Asia and parts of America. People love it for decoration, festivals, and even as a natural pest repellent in gardens. One look at this beautiful flower and I wanted it in my sketchbook, here's the Reference image I found on Pinterest.
I started with a light sketch of the stem, leaves and flower’s round shape, then I focused on making ruffled texture of the petals using short, curved lines. I layered the petals and made some parts slightly darker than others, I also tried to use the shading to show texture on the flowers and leaves. I'm glad I tried this out, it looks better than I expected...
Have a beautiful day...
