I feel that he was involved with illegal activities and was not the boss of the operation. Whatever she overheard or witnessed previously place her life in peril without knowing what or who she implicated. Apparently, her ex-husband did not like the new finance. His instincts were spot on. I was just happy he was there as support for her when she needed it.
