I have heard this prompt countless times, especially when I was much younger. These were times an older sibling feels upset about something I did or said, their reaction would be that I have grown wings to challenge them.
It is not literal, as anyone can see. It is a figure of speech to say a person is bold enough to do what he could not do before or what others cannot do.
In reality, no one grows wings without a cause. There is either an inferiority complex or pride in action, it is really a mindset, just a perception.
