The use of a fireplace depends on the season inwhich we are, and also the location because my present location does not need a fireplace.
Another thing to note is the fact that a fireplace is normal for everyone, a lot of folks have a fireplace, especially the ones that need it. It is not special to build up a fireplace to keep you warm, because your health depends on it.
The only place I can imagine you will need a magic fireplace is the North pole because there might not be a fireplace there, and you would need to build one to survive. But with the harsh cold weather, it might prove almost impossible.
This is not verified though, I've not been there but it is just my candid opinion.
