I use to say something very significant to people around me about love, and it is a really helpful reality. "Love is shown in deeds, not in words".
We are meant to show love to others, not merely shouting it and telling it afar. Love is at its fullest when it is seen by others, that way there is an evidence of your love for them, saying it might not be even necessary then but might just be a compliment.
Proclaiming your love is a good thing you should do before someone else do it for you, do not procrastinate!
