This is my post for #freewriters 2620 prompt I need this hosted by @mariannewest
Every birthday or Christmas I am asked by my family what I want. I tell them I do not need anything and they insist there has to be something. So I tell them something I could use, like a new garden hose or a new broom, but they do not want to buy me things like that. They say something like a hose is not a gift. There has to be something else you want, yes there are things I want but not need. To me, it is not the money you spent on the gift, it is, can I use it?
Since we will not be getting another load of soil for our plants I told everyone who buys me a Christmas gift that I wanted a bag of well draining potting soil and nothing else. Some of my children said, "You want dirt for Christmas"!!! I said, "Yes, I need this."
not the bag of soil he bought me, mine was bigger.
I got one bag of potting soil for Christmas, it was from my husband. They all promised they would get it for me, but it is now the middle of January and I am not holding my breath.
They get me other things like a machine you put your towel or clothes in and it warms them while you are in the shower. This is useful in the winter, but I can not plug this and a heater in the bathroom at the same time, it blows the breaker. But I like the concept of having warm clothes and a warm towel.
I got a wall decoration something like a wind chime, it is a stick with pieces of glass glued to fishing string and hanging at different lengths, I like both gifts but can not plant anything in them.
The daughter who lives with me said she would not buy me anything I have to set on a table or hang on the wall, which was good because I want dirt. She bought a gift for everyone in the family, but me. I am a little hurt, but I think she does not realize she forgot me and I was happy she bought for everyone else. She has a good heart.
