Desert roses can not tolerate temperatures under 50F for an extended period. I have done a lot of reading on them and can not find what they consider an extended amount of time, so when we were to be in the 40s from 10pm and not be above 50F until the next day, I brought them inside. I could not fit them all in the house so my husband hung a light in his shop for me to put the rest in there.

One problem with putting them in the house was that we now have lizards in the house. My husband was upset because they would die without water, so he put jar lids with water around the floor for them. He caught the ones he saw and took them outside.

The weather warmed enough to put the desert roses back outside. We still had temps in the 50s but not lower than 50 for very long. This was last week and I am still finding lizards in the house.

With them all back outside and with a good drink of water, I am happy and they are happy. But it is iffy if we stay happy. This coming week they say there could be snow in north Florida, for my part of FL will be in the upper 40s, so once again I need to figure out how long the temp will be this low and figure out where I am going to put them.

I am not going to bring them back into the house. I heard enough about the lizards. I even looked them over before bringing them inside and did not see any lizards, they must have been under the soil in the pot.

This was August 2023, it was not long after this, that I had to quit because of my hand
It has been over a year since I last fished and I have had time to think about what it has done to my body, and the time it took away from my children. Even though it was something I wanted to do, I seriously think I applied for the wrong job. Or would my body still be in this shape with another type of work? I do not think I would be this bad off.

I love working with plants but back then I did not have the land to start my own business growing them. I do not think I would have lost the cartilage in my hand because I believe what caused that was either picking so many fish from nets or using it to reel so many fish in on a rod and reel. And I do not think I would have torn the discs in my back, that was caused by being bent over the side of the boat for 45 minutes fighting to get a huge hammerhead shark from our net.

I tell my grandkids to follow their heart and apply for a job that they will enjoy doing. Now I am wondering if I am telling them wrong. Maybe I should be telling them to take a job that is not going to be hard on their body.
