Before the Match
As I was saying yesterday, we were up to Dublin for the all Ireland final last weekend. The less said about that the match itself, the better. My home team of Galway lost and it was a tough pill to swallow.
Silver Lining
For me though, it's important to try to find a silver lining. In this case the silver lining was the great morning I had with my sister on the morning of the All Ireland.
She lives in Brazil now, so I don't see her that often anymore. She was home for a few weeks holidays and we stayed at my friend's house in Blackrock for the All Ireland.
We had a big session with friends on the Saturday night and come Sunday morning, we had a ramble around Blackrock looking for a cafe, and found a super funky outdoor market. Actually it's Ireland's oldest outdoor mixed market as this sign proudly attests.
It was great. Market's are right up my sister's street, so she busied herself buying antique teapots, antique clocks and the like.
Here she is with said clock, while checking out the other wares and hagling on price.
There were plenty of options for food too and we ended up ordering a delicious korean borrito.
You can tell this market has been here for a long time.
I found some great bits and pieces in this man's stall, with lots of history and interesting posters available to buy.
My favourite ones were the following.
First up is this cool Thin Lizzy poster. They were a seriously talented Irish band of yesteryear.
This one gave me a good laugh.
This one is a little piece of Irish history. Michael Collins was an Irish revolutionary, soldier and politician who was a leading figure in the early-20th century struggle for Irish independence.
I'll leave ye with this poster I found which although it references teenagers, could easily apply to my three boys aged 5, 8 and 11.
Sláinte and Peace out.
