The photo above of a pink rose was taken using my first digital camera, a Canon IXUS 970IS when I went to Perth, during one of the outback trips to and it was raining. I especially love the rain droplets on the petals. They look so pure.
I appreciate what others do with their roses, especially when they bloom beautifully in gardens.
When I see roses, I love taking photos of them, fresh from the garden soil or in their pots.
This beauty was blossoming in my friend's garden during the cool autumn days.
This was taken when I bought my first pot of roses and it was having a wishful thinking that I could take care of it. But they died of tragic death within 2 weeks.
After that, I saw these colourful roses in a shop but I refrained from buying them, knowing they will face the same fate as my earlier pot of roses. It is best that they stay where they were.
When I do not see fresh rose flowers, I would listen and sing along to songs with roses in their titles such as this song by Seal:
or this one by Frankie Laine:
and by Bon Jovi, one of my favourite rock bands:
And lets not forget the Roses are Red, Violets are Blue poems. I used them pretty often in school days.
I also enjoy the scent of rose from potpourris and essential oils, especially in diffusers. I tried drying the petals once but they started having insects lurking around that I decided to throw them away.
The other thing I enjoy about roses is a cold rose syrup drink. It is an acquired taste but I quite like it cold though I do not drink often because syrup is sugar after all.
I have not tried rose water though. Maybe some day.
What do you do with Roses?
