1/✍️ The devastating Hurricane Helene that hit the southeastern US this night has killed at least 40 people in 4 states - Florida, Georgia and both Carolinas. Children are among the dead.
2/✍️ Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said the damage from Helene is greater than the combined damage from the previous two hurricanes Idalia and Debby.
3/✍️The terrible force of the hurricane was also felt by patients at a hospital in Erwin, in northeast Tennessee. The 54 people inside the building escaped the flooding by climbing onto the roof, where they were stuck for an extended period of time. Authorities say they have all been evacuated.
4/✍️According to PowerOutage, more than 700,000 customers are currently without power in Florida, more than 914,000 in Georgia, more than 1.19 million in South Carolina, more than 868,000 in North Carolina, more than 232,000 in Virginia, more than 104,000 in Tennessee, more than 215,000 in Kentucky, and more than 288,000 in Ohio.
