That particular model of Big Buck Hunter is a pain in the rear to maintain. At least the actual replacement of the gun controller is easy once you get to the coupling!

Ah, someone who knows my pain!
Actually, as you say, it wasn't that bad. Just me on the learning curve for the first time. :)
We've been swapping out guns in my area—probably four in the last four months or so. They're all on the older Big Buck games. There's less than half a dozen of the HD versions in my area. Those cabinets are all out in front of the screen, and while I haven't really looked at it, seems like it might be easier to get into.
My cousin has a Call of the Wild cab, the last version to use a CRT. Keeping those tuned up is, well...
That's an exercise in and if itself. But connecting the gun is super straight forward. His cab didn't have a gun to start with, so he ordered one and I hooked it up for him. At least things are easily identified on those old logic boards!
