Dry January week 2 for me in Ireland

in BEER10 months ago (edited)

Still Going Strong

As I was telling ye last week, I am doing Dry January this year, so no beers for me again this week and for the next two weeks too. It's halfway through the month now and all good. It's a worthwhile thing to do every now and then. Zero hangovers on Saturday mornings before I take my kids to Soccer training is pretty sweet too I must admit.

As I was saying last week though, I really enjoy @detlev's weekly Beer Saturday contests, so I will continue to take part, even during my self imposed Dry January. I'll just think back on beers I had before or good beer related stories to you some content.

Did you ever try going dry?

Did any of guys ever give Dry January a go? I'd highly recommend it to be honest, especially after the hustle and bustle and over indulgence of Christmas.

I'm only 13 days in, but so far so good and not so much as an inkling of temptation as of yet. My brother did it with me last year and continued it on for 4 months, fair dues to him. One month was enough for me and I really enjoyed the few pints in early February I must admit.

Great way to lose a few pounds too! Keep it up as long you can. Personally I gave up those kind of resolutions long ago!

True about a few pounds, but I've no problems there, I could probably do with putting on a few pounds tbh! I tend to be 73-76Kg and am 5 ft 11

My grandmother was like that, she could never gain weight and had to eat butter and cream intentionally to maintain weight. I sadly don't have that problem... I have to watch what I eat....
I'm 6 ft 4 and 250, I need to get back down to my old athletic weight of 225 that I had back in college! lol

I’m 6,4 too! Was 260 and lost weight got to 190 but after my knee surgery and months and not being as active I’m back at 230. 195 is the goal.

Always good to have a goal but with a 6,4 frame, you can carry it I'd say.

The auld butter and cream diet, that sounds delicious!!! 😁

At least with a 6'4 frame you can easily carry extra weight without looking overweight.

Healthy living is good though, and good for the mental health too I find. Exercising realises endorphins for the brain and those happy chemicals are good for us to keep us balanced.

I have "dry" every weekday. And sometimes I even forget that I could have a BEER! on Saturday :-)

Ya I'd be dry 99% of weekdays unless I'm on holidays. Friday would be main day for a glass of vino or a few beers, except Dry January this year and last year.

It's up to everyone how they "set" it :-).

I have never done it yet. Maybe one day, good luck with it!!

Ya man, that was me up until last year. I'd tried it a few times in my twenties and failed miserably!!! Last year was a breeze and so far so good this year..

Good on ya. I'm not quite ready. Like an alky, I have to be willing to take that step, lol

Ha ha, January not too bad a month to do it, as there's fuck all on anyway!

It takes a lot of strength to look back on good beer times during a dry month, so kudos to you:)))

Hey hey, thanks Milly, I'm starting to look forward to getting out for a few pints in early February now! 😁

Congrats man you are already half way through Dry January! Really taking one for the team here!

I am trying to decide whether I enjoy holiday beers or 7 Guinness pints with friends more. Both are perfect as far as I am concerned and your memories are bringing back pleasant ones of my own.

Quality man!! That sounds like a good night out!

Oh, those beer photos are making me want to have a beer. 🍻 I have found a few non alcohol beers that taste almost as good. So I will have one of those. Great to see you on Bilpcoin.com ….
