Beer and Golf
It's that time of the year again folks. Possibly my favourite sporting week, maybe with the exception of Arsenal in Cup finals, Galway in Gaelic Football or Hurling finals or Ireland at major soccer tournaments like World Cups and European Championships.
All of the above are rare events though, with the exception of the Masters which rolls around every April year in year out without fail, and as a keen golfer, it's one of my favourite sporting weeks and I tend to be glued to it for at least six hours on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
This year's Masters hasn't let us down either and there has been plenty of excitement right from the start. Bryson DeChambeau who famously once said that Augusta was a power 67, almost proved that on Thursday when he went around in 65 which would -2 on his fantasy par, but was -7 to actual which put him in a commanding position going in Friday. His score was just a little bit worse on Friday, but the wind was blowing hard so signing for 73 was actually a brilliant and gave him a three way tie for the lead at the halfway stage, a lead he shared with ever present and world number 1 Scottie Scheffler and Max Homa.
Homa's score of 71 was sensational given the stormy and blustery conditions that were present yesterday and DeChambeau and Scheffler did mighty well to sign for 73 meaning a 3 way lead. Here is the top of the leaderboard.
Back to the beer though, and these Hazy Janes' really hit the spot while binging on golf this past few days.
It's difficult to know who will win it in the end, but I hope it's DeChambeau who has really grown on me since I started watching his YouTube golf videos in recent times, so much so that I backed him to win the Masters at 28/1, so hopefully he gives me a nice pay day.
