No Beer this week

Some weeks there's no beer. So I'll give ye two things instead. Firstly I'll bring ye some photos of lovely creamy Guinness and secondly I'll bring ye a few photos from out and about in Ireland.

DAMN! Talk about an Irish adventure!

If there is anything better than a Guinness, it is another one and sharing a bunch with friends in a session like that.

We just brewed another batch of Irish stout which should come in around 4.6% abv with toasted malts and carbed with nitro. The only way a stout should be in my opinion. Can't wait to taste it!

No. Between the cost of the supplies and what we all make an hour normally, nobody could afford our beer. Just for the co-op to drink.

I visited one of our local breweries in and around Reading last weekend. The town used to be big for brewing mainstream beers and was home to the Symonds brewery but since that all closed down long before I was a kid. New ones sprung up in recent years, including Renegade. Most of them on farms, old milk sheds and that sort of thing.

Renegade make their own stout and we’re cheekily advertising that with the current Guinness rationing here in England, get their version whilst stocks last!!!

I can't believe there's rationing on Guinness!! That's nuts... Kind of clever too, makes it really sought after... Tell someone they can't have something and then they want it...

Most of them on farms, old milk sheds and that sort of thing.

Pretty interesting and cool to see the sheds getting repurposed and used again

Pulling a pint of draught Guinness was quite the thing to learn as a novice bartender.

I was relaxing after a few days travelling north to Liverpool for a funeral - bittersweet, as these events often are - with a glass of white wine and catching up with podcasts. A friend recommended Cahokia Jazz, but I've not got into it yet. The auld one is fine, out in Portobello Market selling bric a brac and trying to offload the books I've said I don't want any more. It's a fine day for it.

Yes, there's a craft to it for sure. Many places in UK don't know how to pour it correctly which is frustrating. I can't believe it is rationed there these days too!

What is Cahokia Jazz? A band or a genre?
