Here are my week one hundred and thirty seven recommendations for Three Tune Tuesday

** Drum roll please.....**

Max Richter - On the Nature of Daylight

It's been a while since I shared some classical tunes with you wonderful people here on Three Tune Tuesday, so let's buck that trend this week, as I bring you three tunes a more modern classical composer. Don't get me wrong, I love the old classical brilliance of Beethoven, Chopin, Mozart, Wagner, Bach, Debussy, Tchaikovsky and list goes on, but what I have for you this morning is more contemporary and modern classical music. Let's have a little listen shall we. The piece is called On the Nature of Daylight from the super talented Max Richter.

I appreciate that classical music is not for everybody, but at least give it a chance. I recommend clearing your mind, closing your eyes and seeing where this piece of music takes you to within your mind's eye.

Max Richter - Vladimir's Blues

I love butterflies. They remind me of my daughter, so when ever I see one or hear a piece of music about one, I remember my precious daughter, who we lost nine year ago at birth, she was stillborn. This piece from Max Richter is about a butterfly species called the blues, and in the early years thinking about my daughter would give me the blues, but the passing of time does help and butterflies make me smile now, not cry.

Max shares his obsession with Vladimir Nabokov who he credits with giving him the inspiration to write this beautiful piece, thus the name Vladimir's Blues. Max himself says that a piece of music should be a place to think, and his music certainly makes me think, no lyrics, just beautiful melodies.

Again, I urge you to close your eyes, and let the music flow through you.

Max Richter - The New Four Seasons – Vivaldi Recomposed: Spring 1

Like all good things, this trio of songs must come to an end, but if you did like what you heard, don't forget to check out the bonus Tiny Desk performance from Max below.

Max arranges and composes music for stage, for ballet and for movies. He says himself that his inspirations comes from what happens around us in our daily lives. I like that, and if I close my eyes and listen to his songs, particularly On the Nature of Daylight, it carries me off someplace in my mind, you can almost float upon the symmetrical vibrations of air that we call music.

Max Richter - Tiny Desk Concert

If you like music, you like tiny desk. Here is Max Richter and friends doing their very own Tiny Desk from a few years ago. Two of the songs above are included here also.

Three Tune Tuesday

That's right, it's Tuesday folks and for our merry little band of ladies and lads, that means sharing tunes, good vibes and engagement. As another week disappears in the rearview mirror, we have loads of engagement and tunes flying around on Three Tune Tuesday and sure isn't that bloody fantastic! I hope you're ready to share three tunes from wherever you find yourself on this magical spinning lump of rock that we all call home and sure you might even sing us a tune if we're lucky?

It's a time of the week when lovers of music, tunes and craic bring their blockchain community three of their finest and brightest tunes to share and celebrate, so let's roll on and let the tunes flow free.

This is my 137th week waxing lyrical for Three Tune Tuesday and we are still going strong.

It started off with me just sharing tunes into what seemed like a void, but little by little others joined and now I'm thrilled that we have a little corner of Hive where we come and share our tunes every Tuesday, and long may it continue. I almost stopped posting the songs and thoughts a few times, but I stuck with it and now interestingly it is my favorite thing about Hive. I love music and now I have a network of folks around the world who love music too and we share our tunes and catch up with each others tunes and discuss them each week. We get Pop, Metal, Rock, Gospel, Folk, Jazz, Rap, Hip-Hop, Trip-Hop, Reggae, Bippy bappidy Flange Hop. Ok I made that one up, but you get the idea, we are all learning about new artists, bands, back stories and sure isn't it just mighty!

Something that excites me the most is that we even get musicians sharing their covers of famous songs and even their own songs from time to time here on #ThreeTuneTuesday, which is a real favorite of mine, as that takes talent, time and dedication.

We are adding New posters and retaining our core of regulars here on #TTT which is fantastic. Let's keep it growing. Weekly, I try to find four to six hours to listen to all of the fantastic music shared from like-minded folk from around the globe and interact with their posts. This has led me to genres I don't know well and to some amazing new bands and artists and has even introduced me to some musical instruments I did not know existed. It also allows me to upvote smaller accounts and find some really interesting people from all over the world, which is heartening.

I hope you enjoy the tunes - be sure to tell me all about it in the comments below and above all else, please enjoy the rest of your Tuesday - smile at a stranger, rub a dog, be a nice human to someone who was not expecting it - peace out.

For those unfamiliar with TTT or Three Tune Tuesday....

Funnily enough I knew Max when we were kids. My dad worked for his dad and I went to their (big) house a few times. I remember them building a synth from a kit. He went to a different school (the expensive kind) so I did not see much of him and we did not stay in touch. It's great to see he has done so well.

I hear similarities to Michael Nyman and maybe Philip Glass (one of my favourites) in his music. That is no bad thing. I know he does some pretty experimental stuff.

Cheers

No way man, that's really cool! Do you think he'd know you if he saw you?

You're right about Michael Nyman, definitely similar soundscape alright.

I'll have to check out more from Philip Glass, as I would not be as familiar with his music.

We were not that close, so he may not remember me.

There's always more music to discover.

You might be surprised, he may well remember you well, who knows.

Cool to hear this! The world is small...

I definitely heard some Philip Glass too. Had to think of the Koyanisquatsi movie series :>)

I think it's cool that there are people out there still doing this sort of thing. I mean you hear classical covers of popular songs and you always have the "classic" classical songs that we have come to know and love over the centuries, but to know that there are new people making their own symphonic compositions is cool.

Ya it's pretty cool that there is new contemporary classical music being added to the old classics for sure. So much music to discover, so little time! 🎶 🎵 🎶

Indeed!

This is beautiful. As an amateur fan of classical music I keep falling on the old standards as I don't know where to look. Through this post I am now introduced to a new genius, and I thank you for that mate!

Kind words indeed @brijwhiz, delighted to have introduced you to Max 🎹

Well that was unexpected and soothing actually.

I needed that. Thank you 😌

Ya he's pretty good eh, I especially like the first song.

That is beautiful. I'm a huge classical fan too! I just don't share it here. Most people aren't lover's of classical. Great to hear there's more than just me!

Most people aren't lover's of classical.

Ya definitely, but it's fantastic music. No lyrics required. The best stuff is so captivating.

I just realized that he is using a synth too.... wow! He really is only interested in sound and music, not stuck to custom or rules

@sirenahippie says - I didn't know Max Richter, thank you for sharing this wonder. I loved all three songs. Happy 2024 dear friend and thank you for creating the #ttt!

Max Richter is definitely one of my favorite (living) classical composers. Just enjoyed that tiny desk concert. I love those. This one was great. Amazing musicians! I also like(d) to see that the guy actually has a message.

Thanks for sharing!

Ya I must say I liked hearing what he had to say too, which makes the music all the more engaging, he seems like a good human with a kind heart.
