Here are my week one hundred and thirty eight recommendations for Three Tune Tuesday

** Drum roll please.....**

Sufjan Stevens - Chicago

It was one of those weeks, where I needed some inspiration, so I leafed through my trusty 1001 albums you must hear before you die. I bought it in 2007 and it starts off with Frank Sinatra's 1955 alum In the Wee Small Hours and finishes up 52 years later with Klaxons 2007 album Myths of The Near Future and has another 999 albums squeezed in between. It stays in my office where I often pick it up and pick a random page and play an album. Today I leafed and finished at page 935 and 2005 and Sufjan Stevens superb album Come On Feel The Illinoise.

Do you know Sufjan? If not, you are in for a treat, as he is a great artist and song writer, so let's kick things off with track 9 from this record, it's called Chicago. Back then in his youth he had the lofty ambition to write an album inspired by every state in America! Yep, a pretty lofty ambition and 50 albums would give Bob Dylan a run for his money. Anyway this album is inspired by the state of Illinoise.

Sufjan Stevens - Come On Feel The Illinoise!

I know that you're all busy, but if time allows, I would recommend having a listen to this album from start to finish. Throw it on for your next car journey, but be warned it's not a short album by any means, and stretches to 74 minutes and 13 seconds and a full 22 tracks. It is a great listen though, and time well invested in my solemn opinion.

Now, feast your ears into my second pick which is the second song from the album, and clocks in at 6 minutes 45 seconds, ah yes, back when people had an attention span beyond 2 minutes 30 seconds for a piece of musical art.

This song is broken into two parts, Part I is The World's Columbian Exposition and Part II is Carl Sandburg Visits Me in a Dream. Enjoy my friends.

Sufjan Stevens - Casimir Pulaski Day

I will leave you with this one and albeit quite sombre and sad, I think that we are all of an age to have lost somebody close to us due to Cancer or some other God awful ailment. I'll include the lyrics here as it is a good one to read along with. Simple, yet profound, Sufjan is a poet not just a singer, hopefully you enjoyed revisiting his work or better still hopefully some have just discovered him.

Lyrics:

Goldenrod and the four H stone
The things I brought you
When I found out you had cancer of the bone

Your father cried on the telephone
And he drove his car into the Navy yard
Just to prove that he was sorry

In the morning, through the window shade
When the light pressed up against your shoulder blade
I could see what you were reading

All the glory that the Lord has made
And the complications you could do without
When I kissed you on the mouth

Tuesday night at the Bible study
We lift our hands and pray over your body
But nothing ever happens

I remember, at Michael's house
In the living room when you kissed my neck
And I almost touched your blouse

In the morning, at the top of the stairs
When your father found out what we did that night
And you told me you were scared

All the glory when you ran outside
With your shirt tucked in and your shoes untied
And you told me not to follow you

Sunday night, when I cleaned the house
I found the card where you wrote it out
With the pictures of your mother

On the floor at the great divide
With my shirt tucked in and my shoes untied
I am crying in the bathroom

In the morning, when you finally go
And the nurse runs in with her head hung low
And the cardinal hits the window

In the morning, in the winter shade
On the first of March, on the holiday
I thought I saw you breathing

All the glory that the Lord has made
And the complications when I see his face
In the morning in the window

All the glory when he took our place
But he took my shoulders and he shook my face
And he takes and he takes and he takes

Three Tune Tuesday

That's right, it's Tuesday folks and for our merry little band of ladies and lads, that means sharing tunes, good vibes and engagement. As another week disappears in the rearview mirror, we have loads of engagement and tunes flying around on Three Tune Tuesday and sure isn't that bloody fantastic! I hope you're ready to share three tunes from wherever you find yourself on this magical spinning lump of rock that we all call home and sure you might even sing us a tune if we're lucky?

It's a time of the week when lovers of music, tunes and craic bring their blockchain community three of their finest and brightest tunes to share and celebrate, so let's roll on and let the tunes flow free.

This is my 138th week waxing lyrical for Three Tune Tuesday and we are still going strong.

It started off with me just sharing tunes into what seemed like a void, but little by little others joined and now I'm thrilled that we have a little corner of Hive where we come and share our tunes every Tuesday, and long may it continue. I almost stopped posting the songs and thoughts a few times, but I stuck with it and now interestingly it is my favorite thing about Hive. I love music and now I have a network of folks around the world who love music too and we share our tunes and catch up with each others tunes and discuss them each week. We get Pop, Metal, Rock, Gospel, Folk, Jazz, Rap, Hip-Hop, Trip-Hop, Reggae, Bippy bappidy Flange Hop. Ok I made that one up, but you get the idea, we are all learning about new artists, bands, back stories and sure isn't it just mighty!

Something that excites me the most is that we even get musicians sharing their covers of famous songs and even their own songs from time to time here on #ThreeTuneTuesday, which is a real favorite of mine, as that takes talent, time and dedication.

We are adding New posters and retaining our core of regulars here on #TTT which is fantastic. Let's keep it growing. Weekly, I try to find four to six hours to listen to all of the fantastic music shared from like-minded folk from around the globe and interact with their posts. This has led me to genres I don't know well and to some amazing new bands and artists and has even introduced me to some musical instruments I did not know existed. It also allows me to upvote smaller accounts and find some really interesting people from all over the world, which is heartening.

I hope you enjoy the tunes - be sure to tell me all about it in the comments below and above all else, please enjoy the rest of your Tuesday - smile at a stranger, rub a dog, be a nice human to someone who was not expecting it - peace out.

For those unfamiliar with TTT or Three Tune Tuesday....

The jist is as follows

Every Tuesday I'm going to share 3 songs which I like to listen to and I invite your feedback in the comments below. Better still, why not have a blast of your own Three Tune Tuesday and mention me in the post and I'll come and find the post and upvote it. If you could also use #threetunetuesday tag that would be great, as that is what I use when sifting through all the entries every Wednesday. It'll be a sweet way for us all to discover new music. You'll also be in with a chance of winning the prize - more on that later.

Sort:

From the cover, I thought it was a rhythm from the 50's but they sound very jovial (or am I the older person? ha,ha,ha...). Very good selection. Thanks for sharing it.

Thanks for stopping by and listening, I'm glad you enjoyed the tunes 🎶🎵🎶

You

Every time something special.

Casimir Pulaski Day - Wonder-full

That's also an interesting composition, huh? No chorus! Now maybe I can write that song after all! :)

Thanks for a special and unique (again) #ThreeTuneTuesday.

Thanks Nicky, glad you digged the tunes. This album is excellent and worth a listen.
