Woodland Show
This was a great day out for all the family. Ireland used to be a rain forest and was completely covered in trees. Unfortunately that is no longer the case and when we were colonised most of the trees were felled, but over the past few decades efforts are being made to reforest areas of Ireland.
Irish Woodlands are home to rich flora and fauna and there is now an Irish Woodland festival. This year it featured Celtic Chainsaw Carvers who were amazing and were a big hit with our kids. Here is one of the guys busy with his creation.
The beautiful art that they make will be proudly displayed on the Wexford greenway afterwards for all the cyclists to enjoy.
This is what the organisers had to say about the festival:
"Celebrating Irish Woodlands, Ireland’s Woodland Show will feature… Woodland talks, information stands, exterior displays, machinery, equipment craft stalls, food stands, family activities and music.
Also featuring the Celtic Chainsaw Carvers… our headlining event which will see international and national carvers creating some magnificent pieces during the show, which will feature on Wexford-Waterford Greenway after the show."

The organisers were very thankful to the Office of Public Works (OPW) for their support this year and asked me to relay their thanks below, which I've duly done.
"We are very grateful to OPW for facilitating us this year in the very beautiful JFK Arboretum, which covers a massive 252 hectares on Slieve Coillte and contains 4,500 types of trees and shrubs from all temperate regions of the world including almost 200 research forest plots grouped by continent, and an area dedicated to the International Conifer Conservation Programme."
