RE: Perhaps my best photos of this sunbird.

Oh yes, difficult times here and the dam walls were in the Malmesbury area.

Good that you will continue, but I consider a private practice to be better, as then you call the shots. So just continue banging away.

For sure, that is the plan I am working towards, opening a private practice. There are some talks about training other practitioners, hopefully I can get a cut from that as well. Overseas, the going rates are from R1,000 per session to R23,000-R40,000 for a year course (per person). If we can establish something like that here in South Africa it would not only be the first, but it might also help many other people find joy and work as well! Big dreams, now we just need to make the dream materialise.

This sounds very good, and I am sure that there will be a market for it. But dream that is not clothed in action, will always remain to be just a dream. So get at it and try your best.

That is beautifully phrased, the dream clothed in inaction will always remain a dream. The first thing that I want to do is go out in public and ask people some of the questions people just assume. There is this massive assumption that philosophy will help the lay public to lead better and more "mindful" lives. However, there is no empirical evidence that this is the case. My first attempt at doing something about this, leading towards getting the dream into action is telling people what my field is (there is some evidence that teaching people the mechanics behind the theory is already a step toward leading a more fulfilling life) and to ask them if they would pay money for it and so on. That is the plan at least for the future now. (It does not look good on the job hunting front - dead silence in that department.)

Sad that the job hunting front is quiet, and all the more reason for you to put something together that will be self sustainable. The most important part for a start would be to research the market, and maybe you could do a survey with your questions, as it will save you a lot of legwork and personal time. You can for instance even do a survey here on Hive as a test.
So, maybe give it a try.

For sure, and the digital and online market is just as lucrative. Think about doing consultation over online calls and getting paid in HBD! Haha. Jokes aside, I want to try and get some local South African feedback to publish in journals, as there is nothing done in this area. If I get good results, I can begin the practice, as people will make it worthwhile. And like flexible payment schemes, someone only pays as much as they can, while others who can afford more can pay for others who cannot pay. Will see if there is a local market for this kind of therapy/counselling. Because the job front doesn't seem to open up much and time is valuable, I am going to start this in the next couple of months.

Yeah, you could become the male version of Oprah and will go viral on the internet !LOLZ
I think that it could work, and let's hope that you will be able to establish a market. Start small with a pilot, and if successful, then the sky is the limit. Looking forward to your progress.

For sure, and I guess the first couple of people might not go as planned, as I am totally new in the field. Might help to "shadow" someone who has been longer in the field (there is someone in Cape Town area) but their work is radically different to mine, so their approach will not be similar to mine. And what I want to achieve with my practice will be different as well. So many differences! Will do something about this situation in the coming months, as I am busy writing a book chapter on philosophy as a way of life, very applicable to the practice.

Ah! Shadowing someone in the field sounds like a great idea, as then you can learn the basics and it will also count as valuable experience. You don't have to worry about the differences, as eventually you can build your own practice on the foundation of the basics. Or in fact, you can lay a new foundation.
Only a chapter of a book?
