I have long thought about how I should start this article series. How and where should I start? Start directly with the explanation or to do a little story-scanning? But both belong together and I decided to tell the story of Endgame and the events first. So not everything 1:1 but so rough that everyone understands what happened and why it happened.
Avengers Endgame is a absolute service to all fans of the MCU who have grown up with the characters over the last eleven years. But the film is also a service to the older generations who grew up with the comics and animations. The stories of the characters are finally treated and each character gets a fitting ending to him and his story.
Yes, all.
The film begins with an absolute despair. The heroes have lost. Their friends and families disappeared with a snap. Tony and Nebula drift energyless through space and it looks gloomy. But hope comes in the form of the shining angel of Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel.
Previously in the post credits scenes of Infinity War we see Nick Fury getting a pager out of the trunk and sending Captain Marvel a signal. In the film of Captain Marvel we see Carol Danvers handing over a modified pager to Nick Fury in case of an emergency. In the post credit scenes of Captain Marvel we see Carol Danvers how she arrives at the main headquarters of the Avengers. There she explained who she is, that she is a friend of Nick Fury, that she come to help. That she was briefed by the remaining Avengers of the snap is so logical that we don't need any scene which shows us this things. Many ask themselves how Carol Danvers can track down the spaceship of Tony Stark and Nebula in space.
That's pretty easy to explain. In Infinity War we see the Guardians of the Galaxy joining Iron Man, Doctor Strange and Spider-Man. The spaceship in which Tony Stark and Nebula sit at the beginning of Endgame is the spaceship of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Rocket Raccoon is the captain of the spaceship and since it is his, he also has a tracking device or at least knows how to track it down. And yes, in the far reaches of space he can track his own spaceship, easier as we think. You can see in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies how easy and simple it is to fly from one point to another in space and how to track and find people, characters, planets and other stuff.
After Captain Marvel transports the spaceship including the death near Tony Stark and Nebula back to Earth, we have a wonderful reunion and experience a completely broken Tony Stark. After this one experiences a small nerve as well as physical collapse it continues promisingly. The Avengers can locate the planet of Thanos.
How is that possible now? Captain Marvel, who can modify a pager to send and receive signals through space in seconds, can certainly build things that can detect energy explosions. In addition, we have always watched in all the movies Rocket Raccoon played in, how he likes to construct things. He is a technology nerd and it's a piece of cake for him to handle electronics and software. So we see in Endgame how he can detect an explosion on a planet. This explosion has the same signature like the snap of Thanos. So it is only logical that Thanos must be on this planet.
Now the remaining heros set off to Thanos to remove the stones and use them to bring everyone back. It also looks like we'll soon see how the whole thing ends. We see how Thanos is also at its absolute low point, at the bottom. He tells the Avengers that he destroyed the stones. Since the snap Thor is plagued by the guilt that he couldn't stop Thanos. Out of frustration Thor finally kills Thanos and so we face the real problem: The stones are destroyed and there is no way to undo this snap.
