Oh I see what you mean. If you use the link in the dropdown menu yes it opens a separate tab ( by the way that link is actually unsafe.. ).

If you go to your blog page and click on Wallet instead it redirects you to https://steemitwallet.com and you can't go back. The back button does not work and there isn't a link to go back to steemit.com! Bad UX.. =[
