245th Steem Torch Carrier

I've heard of The Steem Torch that was started by @geekgirl 9 months ago when she sent off 25 Steem to start it on it's way! And occasionally I have seen it get passed to people I follow. Now it's my turn to hold it briefly and pass it along!

I was quite thrilled that the amazing @Traciyork chose to send me the massive amount of Steem that goes along with the Torch. Traci generously added 10 Steem to the pot so that I received 942 Steem!

And now I am beyond honored to be the 245th Steem Torch Holder! You can track many of the previous Steem Torch holders at @steemtorch.

Now it's my turn to pass the torch along! I am adding 8 Steem to the pot to make the total 950 Steem.

And now the torch goes to...

I have chosen my dear and trusted artist friend @barbara-orenya to send the torch to. Barbara lives in one of my favorite places on earth, in Annecy, France and we have been friends since we first met each other on the now defunct Tsu platform, and learned our way around Steem together when we joined within days of each other in May 2017.

Whats the point of the steem torch? And how do u know someone wont just keep the steem and not pass the torch? I think its really cool Im just curious..

You can read more about the torch and it's purpose at the links I shared. It is basically a social experiment. Sending the torch to honest and honorable people that we trust is an important piece! Besides, if someone stole the $125 worth of Steem, any good standing they had on the platform would be pretty well shot, don't you think? 🤔😜

It's not all about winning sometimes. If one must, one could keep the Steem, that would be a win, but the integrity lost would be far greater unless one decides to leave steemit and doesn't care at all.

The rules says "Funds can be donated to Steem based charities, distributed to minnows, or burnt. Torch keeper must not keep the funds."

This will happen when it reaches the last person who will make the decision. So to answer your question, yes there is a possibility that it will go to @hope.venezuela if it qualfies as a Steem based charity and the last torch bearer chooses to do so.
