In other news, I like the way you describe Taiwan's CNY celebrations. The cheeky little sarcastic messages on the hongbao's are hilarious, and they make such a light-hearted change from the pompous, ponderously pretentious way everything on the Mainland is so falsely ceremonial.
It seems like the Taiwanese are much better at not taking everything so somberly and seriously as the bloody Mainlanders.
