All the Colours
They say that you should get as many colours on your plate as possible to stay healthy. Why though?
I remember reading somewhere that different colours represent different nutrients. For example, orange foods like carrots and sweet potatoes are high in beta-carotene, while leafy greens like broccoli are packed with iron. By eating a rainbow of foods, you're more likely to get a broader range of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.
Colourful foods also tend to have a high fiber content, which is good for digestion and the gut microbiome. Fiber helps keep the digestive system running smoothly and can contribute to a feeling of fullness. Another obvious benefit is that a plate full of vibrant colours is simply more appealing to the eye. The visual appeal of a colorful plate can make meals more enjoyable, which may help with eating a balanced diet.
As you guys know I'm on a health kick lately and there's no sign of it abating to be honest. I can't remember when I felt so physically, emotionally and mentally well. We've all heard we are what we eat, but that is really ringing true with me these days.
Don't get me wrong though, I still enjoy the odd treat like the red wine and dark mint chocolate I'm enjoying right now. Everything in moderation though and wherever possible, I continue to avoid any added sugar in my food and eat many whole foods.
Thanks as always for stopping by everyone
Peace Out
