Today at noon with the sun shining brightly, I decided to visit the San Felix pier in the state of Bolívar - Venezuela, a place I had not been to since I was very young when my parents and I used to go from that point to the city of Maturin, taking a boat known as a Chalana, while currently these Chalanas are no longer operational because since the Orinokia bridge was built, the flow of boats by means of the Chalanas was no longer necessary, however for many people it is still a means of transporting themselves in boats or small vessels because there are closer points such as the town of Los Barrancos de Fajardo, a town that can be seen in the photos I am showing, and it is a town that already belongs to the state of Monagas.
To get to the dock from the city of Puerto Ordaz, the city where I currently live, I took a bus to the center of San Félix, then you have to cross the entire center between many stores and commercial points of all kinds, from food to clothing or other things, I would say that walking to get to the dock takes about 20 minutes until you can see all those waters between the Caroní and Orinoco rivers. However, many of these places are not well maintained and could really have great potential for tourism due to all the attractions we can see.
Even so, it is a very visited place by locals, even to bathe in the river or do a little fishing. Also from this point sometimes boats leave for another country like Guyana, and well I can't imagine what that whole journey would be like to get to that destination, perhaps that also began since people in my country began to migrate to other places in search of well-being for themselves.
On the other hand, I can say that this dock, as I said before, is very abandoned. We can barely see a large ship anchored to the shore, a vessel that operated for many years in previous decades, when there was a lot of activity in this port compared to what we can see now. But even so, the great attraction of this place from a point of view is to be able to take advantage of the beauty of nature, such as appreciating that distinction between the two rivers, Orinoco and Caroní, as we can see in many of these photographs towards the horizon and the background is already another state or another town different from what was there at that time.
Whenever I see these places, I always think that it could be used to create a great tourist station taking advantage of all the resources that nature gives us, in addition to having a great view that many have even told me that the sunsets are special in that place, although I have never been able to be there at that time. Therefore, the site exists and has great potential but it only lacks the will of those responsible to formalize a great project that also has a balance with nature.
I hope to be able to cross over to the other side soon to visit the town of Los Barrancos de Fajardo and, who knows, to see a bit of Fajardo Island, which I may have passed by many times when I was a child but which I have no memories of now, so it is like a place that I have yet to visit, as well as many other places.
