The Wild Lights
I remember having a conversation with my sister-in-law and brother-in-law a little while ago, kind of giving out about certain Christmas and birthday presents for our kids. I know it sounds kind of ungrateful but what I was giving out about was all of the plastic and material goods that they constantly get and how they kind of pile up and to be honest our boys have too much of these toys and plastics already.
I find a much better present to get is a day out or an event or a voucher for the cinema or for the zoo or something like that. So low and behold our sister and brother-in-law (my wife's sister and her husband) got the kids a trip to the wild lights at Dublin Zoo this year which was an unbelievable present and a great idea, so my wife and I booked a hotel for us and off we went to the wild lights at Dublin Zoo.
Our hotel had a swimming pool too, so the kids got a couple of really nice mornings in the swimming pool, we went to see the wild lights at Dublin zoo and we went to their favorite fast food restaurant Eddie rockets afterwards, so the kids had a ball.
We used to live near Dublin and so we'd go to the wild lights every year, so it's really cool to go back. I decided to get some good photos too to share with you good people on Hive, so here goes. Enjoy.
A few with the kids
You'll know by now that I don't tend to put up pictures of our children, definitely not ones where you can make out who they are with their faces shown. I'm just not comfortable doing this, my kids were born into technology and phones and photos and they have plenty of time to put up as many photos and videos as they wish in their future lives, so I'm not going to add to those for them. I much prefer for them to decide which photos and videos they do and don't put up on the internet.
There is a part of me though that sees my hive page and posting as kind of autobiographical so I do like to put up some images, but I always make sure that their faces aren't seen like the ones below where you can just see their silhouettes.
The Wild Lights at Dublin Zoo was actually perfect for these silhouette type photographs, although I did manage to get some really good ones without silhouettes too, where you can make out their faces but I won't be posting them on hive.
This was such a great evening out there's something really cool about being in the zoo after dark and all these cool lights that they've put on are amazing and I'd recommend it to anybody.
We could hear sea lions and monkeys or some sort of primate in the background as we made our way around the Zoo and there was a fantastic buzz around the place even though it was a gentle drizzly kind of evening. Young and old rubbed shoulders and nobody cared about the rain. Everyone was immersed in the colourscape that surrounded us high and low.
I've got some more great shots to share with ye too folks, but there's already over 30 photos here, so rather than bombarding ye all, I'll do a part II post in a few days time, thanks as always for stopping by.
