Before the Match
We were up to Dublin for the all Ireland final this weekend. The less said about that the match itself, the better. My home team of Galway really left this one behind.
I'll share some before the match photos though to show ye Croke park before the match and give ye an idea of what it's all about.
The old school jersey was at the ready.
We all went to the Hideout before the match and it was thronged with Galway heads inside and out.
Match tickets at the ready..
We had decent seats in the Lower Hogan stand.
We all watched as the two teams followed the band around the pitch and the atmosphere intensified.
The stadium was packed to the rafters with 82,300 people.
It wasn't Galway's day and our main free kick taker Finnerty got injured after ten minutes and Shane Walsh who took the duties over had a day to forgot kicking too many wides and dropping a few short into the keeper's hands, a cardinal sin in Gaelic Football.
Hats off to Armagh though, they were the better team on the day and showed more hunger and composure when it really mattered.
Here are a few photos of the winning team and their fans.
I was gutted as a Galway man, but I'm also a sportsman and it's important to lose with dignity, so again well done to Armagh and commiserations to our boys.
Sláinte and Peace out.
