RE: Maniq Tribe, Thailand - Tripreport

in #steempress5 years ago

The Maniq are, indeed, a very special and unique tribe. I've lived here in Northern Thailand for 15 years after a year down south to begin and yes, have experienced much of what you have seen, felt and tasted.

When you come up this way again (I'm based in Chiang Mai and Mae Sariang) give me a shout and I can connect you to some of the local Karen sub-tribes who exist foraging in the mountains along the border. I'm working with the Karen people to build an organic social enterprise that builds on their forest knowledge and supports their indigenous way of life. I speak fluent Thai, have a truck of my own and would be more than happy to show you around up here.

Your images are stunning. And yes, this is what I call #mythailand

So much beauty and culture and diversity here. No much natural wealth, harmony and indigenous knowledge.

Be in touch when you're next "in the neighbourhood".

Hi @aremislives!

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment!

That sounds amazing! I actually planed to go up to Chiang Mai to travel a bit around for a few days soon. I also thought about visiting the Karen sub-tribes (Long neck, right?)

The project you are doing sounds amazing and I would be super interested to see it!

Again, thank you very much for taking the time and reading this report.

Let's stay in contact! :))
