        When you go to ~witnesses any dead witness will be marked with the words "(disabled X weeks ago)" beside its name.

                    Thank you, @ahmadmanga! I think this works if the witness is in the top 100, but what if s/he is outside this list? I removed one that I suspect was inactive but there are two more and there is no way to see their witness status from steemit...
