Somehow anytime I see or hear about a wizard I immediately picture Gandalf the Grey/White or Albus Dumbledore (from the Harry Potter sequels). It is that same theme I had in mind when I embarked on this journey to achieve this. I thought of Gandalf going through the woods and looked for a reference that soothed this purpose.
It took some time to find one. The physique of the man was elderly with little wrinkles, he wore pilot googles and head gear on his head (which I omitted) just like the ones jet pilots wore during the Second World War.
I replaced his gear with an hat, the Wizards' hat and added some leaves as seen in the reference.
When I drew the glasses, it looked perfect but then while adding the depths, highlights and finishing touches I noticed there was a slight misalignment this being the first time I will be making glasses digitally. Funny enough, I mistakenly stumbled on one feature I had watched tons of videos on to find. Isn't it nice when these things happened. It's almost as though an unaired prayer has been answered.
The staff also was a plus, I didn't have it as part of the original plan. I basically just went with the flow towards the end. As you well know, backgrounds aren't my strong suit. So when this idea struck me I went with it without any hesitation.
This is the Wizard of Eastwood
the making process....
I trust you had a great time devouring my work, thanks for stopping by.
