Block.one has announced today their new social media platform, Voice. Dan Larimer has promised a new social media nick-named Steemit 2.0 a while ago. Not sure if it will be Steemit 2.0, but the promise of a new social platform has been delivered today. Block.one presentation was impressive. There is a link to the keynote on the front page of the Voice website.

I like the idea of Voice and design of the app looks amazing too. Users will be earning Voice tokens on the platform. What is interesting is users can reward authors while pushing their comment higher by spending Voice tokens and when some other users push their comment above yours you get your Voice tokens back and some. Interesting. Dan promised there will be no bots and trolls on the platform.

We think social networking is due for a major rework. From the bot mobs to the data tracking, to the shady algorithms behind our feeds, social media has not been a good friend to us. source

I've seen many STEEM competitor and none of them convinced me that they were going to be a threat. But coming from @dan and Block.One I can see this being something powerful. I got this message when I try to watch the Keynote:

We use a special authentication system to make sure every user on Voice is an actual person. No robo-mobs. No catfish. No burner accounts.

I wonder if this would be too privacy invading and end up being like the Sesame Credit system on blockchain. I'd rather see something like Civic being used for identity verification.

Decentralisation is the process by which the activities of an organization, particularly those regarding planning and decision making, are distributed or delegated away from a central, authoritative location or group. Gathering personal identification and data is authoritative at it's very foundation. The list goes on and on.

you ARE MISSING THE CRIME THING... and if for you anonymous crime is part of decentralization (never said you did... just guessing).. then you are wrong. sorry... at least this is my view.

Plus you are confusing decentralization with governance... which DAC's will solve one day. I don't which for centralized and monopolized attitudes to take the world... I don't like those too! But I think that, decentralization has to still evolve... in the crypto world...

A LOT to be honestly secure for every family! Currently it just causes more hassle for people that don't know how to deal with it, than it solves stuff for the real world.

Using social activity to experiment on the next phase, will work towards the next findings on how to find the best solution.

The project is PURE centralization, it's not even debatable. EOS has dropped significantly since the voice announcement, the market obviously rejected the idea lmao EOS fan boys can sip their moon boy tears haha

I am glad there is another platform for social media , but I won't be joining. Steem is enough for me and don't see any point in having multiple sites as one is enough. If you end up spending time over there you will let things slip here as the time it takes to grow is too time consuming.

I actually think it is a good thing as some will leave here and it will effect their growth and new users will take their place. I just don't see the new site working and starting from scratch doesn't sound like a smart move to me. It has taken me 15 months to get to where I am today with 6-8 hours a day so I know what is required. most users have at least invested something here so they think it will be easy just to repeat it somewhere else.and I know it won't.

it will be different for sure... but most interesting will be the results. Experiments are NEVER 100% equal.. even if you think time can make them to...

On Voice, you need voice tokens to get the visibility. You can voice your comment and it goes up. If someone voice is higher, you will get back your tokens and get some extra. This is pretty cool! As they said, there will be no bots. And it has an authentication system. Voice is for human, not bots. This is very exciting!
