Hello hivers, so I decided to share an animal painting I did some few weeks ago, it was actually an animal contest on Steemit.
Some of you may not be familiar with me I am a multidisciplinary Artist. Aside using Charcoal to draw I also use other mediums to express my self.
The animal I decided to paint was a Panda, Panda happens to be one of my favourite animals.
Here are some fun facts about this animal
- Pandas can climb trees and can also swim
- They eat a lot during the day
- Bamboo trees are crucial to their diets
- The have the ability to camouflage within their habitat
- Their eyes are different from that of a bear Etc.
In this post I will be sharing with you guys the step by step process as well as the materials I used in achieving this painting.
MATERIALS
The materials used for this painting are in the picture below.
- I painted on a linen primed canvas
- I used Oil paint black, blue, brown, Green and white
- Used a graphite pencil to make my sketch
- I used Brushes for painting
- I Used Liquin
Here are my progress shots
- Progress shot 1
I first started up with my empty canvas by outlining my boundary line
- Progress shot 2
I made my sketch
- Progress shot 3
I added brown paint to tone my canvas, I also added liquin which serves as a solvent to distribute paints around the canvas, it also helps in quick drying process of the oil paint. Liquin can also be used to thin your paint pigments
- Progress shot 4
I toned my canvas brown because painting on a white canvas may not bring out the color of your final painting, most professionals use this method but there is nothing bad in painting directly on your white canvas, it depends on what you want to achieve
- Progress shot 5
I began to add my black color
- Progress shot 6
I began to add my white to the areas I needed it and also added some ash color to give it a form of shade
- Progress shot 7
This process I painted the wood the panda sat on using my brown color
- Progress shot 8
I added my blue color to the background to give it that sky look so that it will compliment the painting
- Progress shot 9
FINAL SHOT
In this shot I added the green leaves around to give it that forest look.
