Oh yes, I could see that he was sleeping, but where he was sleeping was another case.
He knows that he can rest here in the warm sunlight, as his colors blend in with the wood.
Squirrels are aware of the dangers that fly around here, so this guy is backing on his matching colors in order for one of the big predator birds not to see him. The Harrier Hawk, for instance, could easily pluck him off and fly away with him, if a Harrier Hawk were to see him. But this time, nothing happened to him, and his resting place was a good choice. I just don't know what the local municipal council would have to say about it as it was never intended as a resting place for squirrels.
This was where he found his place of rest, hanging in the sunlight and dreaming of his girlfriend.
Every now and then, he would open his eyes halfway just to check the surrounds.
And then he would slowly start to close his eyes again.
We simply cannot find the name of this tree, is it an aloe tree? Maybe it belongs to the century plant family?

Finally, another first for me, as this is the Greater Double-collared sunbird (Cinnyris afer). I usually get the Southern Double-collared (Cinnyris chalybeus) one.
The red band across the chest is much wider than the Southern Double-collared's red band.
It was on Sunday that we visited my wife's aunt, and she has a lovely garden. She also has green fingers, and she can grow anything. We cut some small Jacob's Ladder branches off our big bush, and we gave them to her. Now the small branches have become a lovely bush, and it is going to grow much bigger than our one. Reason being, ours is pot-bound and hers is planted in open ground. We have now also planted one twig of our Jacob's ladder in the garden, and it is starting to take off. I will show it to you when I do a succulent post.
