The garden around the house is edible and beautiful.

Hello friends, what kind of trees do you plant around your house? And why do you plant them? Let's share experiences. For my house, I planted these trees around my house.

Backyard area

  1. Jackfruit tree I planted it because my grandmother died. It is a belief that if we plant jackfruit behind the house, it will help support us to succeed in everything we do. I planted one tree. Every year, it will bear fruit for me to eat. Its flesh is harder than normal jackfruit and it tastes sweet, which I like very much. When it bears fruit, we will peel it and share the flesh with my parents, friends who work, and my sister to take it to Bangkok.
  2. Tamarind tree I planted it as a fence to mark the border between my land and my neighbor's land. And you can also collect its young shoots to boil in coconut milk with salted fish and add young tamarind leaves. It will give a sour taste from the tamarind leaves, salty from the salted fish, and creamy from the coconut milk. Together, the taste is well-rounded and delicious.

Right side of the house

  1. Avocado tree. There was a time when I was a big fan of eating it, especially in salads. Sometimes I eat it with honey or with coconut milk. So I bought it and planted it myself. I have planted this tree for almost five years, but it has not borne any fruit yet. Another tree is on the opposite side of the house. I left the seeds in the water from washing dishes, and they sprout. They are probably two years old.
  2. Mickey Mouse tree. I got it from a grandmother who I used to give my sewing work to. I saw that it had strange-looking fruit, like Mickey Mouse, so I asked her what kind of tree it was. She gave me a seedling and planted it beside my house for about ten years. It has spread to different places, but I pulled it out and kept one in front of the house. It is a bush. The tree is taller than me and the wood is very hard. I have cut off some big branches.
  3. Indigo tree. It is a flowering plant that my relative gave me. I planted two of them. The other one is in front of the house. It has borne many small trees. It is a bush and has purple flowers. Now I am thinking of making a metal roof frame for it to grow to provide shade in front of the house. Because the tree is very big and it is growing in an untidy manner. I am waiting for the technician to come and fix the kitchen for me and will have the technician install the steel frame.

In front of the house

  1. Champaka tree It blooms all year round and has a fragrant smell. The flowers are grown for sale to make garlands to worship Buddha. But my house has let the tree grow tall, so it is difficult to collect. And I don't take care of it, so I don't use it much except for the shade. But now I cut the branches off because they are too tall. It can be dangerous if there is a storm. The branches might break and damage the roof. Now the tree is shorter.
  2. Pomegranate tree I bought it from a plant market and planted it in front of the house. It is more than ten years old. It bears fruit every year. But most of the time I don't eat it because birds and worms eat it first. Because I don't wrap the fruit to prevent it. And we always take the leaves with me to funerals. It is believed that it will protect against evil.
  3. Mulberry tree I got it from an employee at the old factory. So I planted it in front of the house. It is about five years old. It bears fruit that is sweet and sour. My grandchildren like to eat it.

Left side of the house

  1. Kaffir lime tree. It was there before I built the house. My grandparents must have planted it. There were two trees. We would use its leaves in food, such as tom yum, stir-fried pork with curry paste, to make it smell good. When it bears fruit, I would collect some for my mother to sell at the market. Sometimes I would use it to clean the bathroom or mop the floor.
  2. Star gooseberry tree. I bought it and planted it after I finished building the house because its name is auspicious, helping to promote kindness and popularity. It bears fruit in clusters along the tree. It tastes sour and astringent. I cut it down once because it was tall, but it didn’t die and sprouted new branches. It hasn’t given me any more fruit.
  3. Banana tree. My mother brought it from the South and planted it behind the house. It didn’t bear any fruit, so I cut it down and moved it to the side of the house. It once gave me fruit a long time ago, but it hasn’t given me any more fruit yet. So I cut it down some, thinking that they might be competing for food, so they haven’t given me any fruit.
  4. Mango tree. It’s a Nam Dok Mai mango tree. It’s about the same age as our house, about ten years old. It bears less than ten fruits a year, and it’s never faster than the squirrels. I think I will cut it down soon.
  5. Coconut tree I bought it because it is a short variety, a sweet coconut tree. But when I planted it, it was very tall and the fruit was small, not big. I use it for cooking sometimes, but most of the time the squirrels will eat it before I can eat it.

All of these are trees that I planted around the house. There are both flowers and fruits. They help make the house more shady and are also used for cooking for the people in the house.

Thank you to all my friends who have supported me.
