Fiber optics has come to stay in this country. Though working for a fiber company that basically deal with FTTH (Fiber To The Home). This method of delivering data internet to the respective customers is one of the best compared to radio waves. Though the network is consistent and the speed is fast enough for customers satisfaction. In my place of work I am a fiber optic technician. During my Introduction post Introducing myself To this Space, I stated that I will be sharing my field work as well as daily experience and i believe there is space for people to learn on or two from me.
When dealing with fiber optics cable, they come with different sizes, depending on the number of cores. Starting with 1 core to 128 cores. Though there are some cables that contain more than 128 cores. However for my company, the highest we use is 128 cores cable. See below for the list of cable cores.
1 core: Mostly for clients
2 cores: Mostly client cable
4 cores: rarely used t provision optical power
8 cores: Mostly to provision optical power
12 cores: Mostly power cable
24 cores, 48 cores, 96 core These are to provision power for as long as 10 km.
