Not the most rewarded

... the ones that had the most eyeballs on content
BACKGROUND
A conversation with @acidyo made me interested in the subject of VIEWS
... It's obvious that actual interaction and comments is likely more important.
... However VIEWS is also really important and should be rewarded.
I think it's pretty obvious that the vast majority of Steem users post content and never promote it outside of STEEM. However some people post on twitter/reddit/FB and their content is viewed way more than a typical Steem user. However because of the lack of guest commenting tools or non-blockchain like/thumbs-up it's hard for those non-steem users to leave their mark of interaction.
SOME ANALYTICS ON MY ACCOUNT
For my main account @jarvie I was interested in which were my most viewed posts... every single one of them is one I either posted on my Facebook feed OR some of the baseball ones were ones that I posted on the r/padres reddit page.
ALL VIEWS | UNIQUE VIEWERS |
---|---|
This shows that a lot of my views for /@jarvie (aka my home page) are likely me if you compare the left column to the right.
The number of views are actually pretty high compared to most "popular" steemians ... that's because I actually promoted at least to my friends on FB.
BIG NUMBERS
However all our numbers PAIL in comparison to some users who seem to get THOUSANDS of views on really random and obscure stuff.
All of these posts have over a thousand views just on SteemPeak
UNIQUE IDEA
My wild idea: Maybe a user who gets over 10k or maybe even just 1k views on a post should have an option to turn on ads for that post... maybe that will give them incentive to actually promote their posts.
ASK FOR YOUR MOST VIEWED POSTS
I'm happy to leave the analytics site open for a few days and if you request I'll share your most viewed posts.
But i'm also interested to know what you make of it all. Is there importance in VIEW count in addition to reward metrics and engagement metrics?
