It's better late than never, I suppose. :)
If you remember my post regarding my art classes with the kids in the neighborhood, you may be able to remember one of the kids named Gab. He really loves drawing and he often draws something and gives it to me. He's such a sweetheart and I really see potential in him when it comes to drawing.
In one of our art classes, I promised him that I'll be making him a drawing and asked him what he wants me to draw for him. He answered immediately, "Bloody Kaneki".
It so happened that he and his older sister are into Tokyo Ghoul recently. I used to watch this anime, too... so it's kind of nostalgic being asked to draw Kaneki. I promised him last December, but I couldn't draw for him until today. haha Anyway, it's better late than never. :)

I originally planned on painting him his request, but since we still don't have water and the water we're currently using is quite expensive, I decided not to. I'll be painting again once the water is back, so it would be easier to clean up after painting. So, instead of paint, I used markers. :)
I'll be sharing some progress shots of my artwork below, so sit back and enjoy them! ^^
Used my watercolor pad and since this one is kind of thin, I opted to using markers for the border instead of masking tape. :)
Pencil sketch first, so I know what my fan art would look like and avoid unnecessary mistakes... :)
Line art using a softer and thinner marker. :)
Colored the bakground black, to make the subject pop up more... and since it's a bloody Kaneki, it'll make the subject "darker".
Now that I'm done with the first few steps, the following ones are coloring. I used mostly dark colors as well as various shades for each part, including the skin, hair and ghoul parts. Here they are. :)
I'm now done with the coloring part. As I've mentioned, I used markers in coloring this, but I used a white pen and a white oil pastel for the highlights. I also don't have a white marker, so I used the oil pastel for it. Now, let me just write my username and signature...
I also wrote, "To: Gab" and "From: Ate Mae" on it. :)
And since I'm giving this to Gab later, I want to take a couple selfies with the drawing as remembrance. I actually like how it turned out, so I'm happy. I hope this makes Gab happy, too... ^^
It's also my first artwork for this year, so it's quite special. It made me want to rewatch Tokyo Ghoul. haha Aside from it being my first artwork this year, it's also my first time to make an artwork in my new room setting. Here's how messy it became. haha
It was quite comfy drawing in this set up, though. I could relax my back on my foam which I keep on the wall... and the wooden table top easel made it easier to do so. Sitting on the floor is also nice for me since I can stretch my legs and just relax while drawing. I'm not sure whether I should be painting here, though... perhaps, I'd still be in the dining table... but we'll see. :)
That's it for my post today. Thanks a lot for checking it out. I hope you like my artwork. Until next time! (^^,)/
