OK, so I'm getting quite serious with this quest thing and I'm actually enjoying it. It's keeping my motivation high to post and made me think of other stuff I want to talk about. Anyway, for this post, let me introduce to you to yet another sports anime which is entitled "DIVE!!".

From the title itself, you can already imagine what the anime is about, can't you? It's a sports anime about conquering that humongous concrete dragon which is also known as the diving board.
In this anime, a certain diving club called Mizuki Diving Club (MDC) is about to be closed down due to financial reasons. Because of this, the coach of the club, Asaki Kayoko, pleaded their parent company to support the club and in exchange, one of the members should be chosen as a part of the Japanese Olympics team. To do this, the members are to showcase their skills in various competitions in order to be chosen.

These three above are members of MDC and they're also the main characters (starting from the left): Okitsu, Tomoki and Youichi. These three showed potential in becoming an Olympic representative, but they all have their issues to face first.
I personally like Okitsu because he's one crazy dude! I really like characters who has their own world and wouldn't really adhere to the standards set by society. It's just refreshing!
In addition, I believe DIVE!! is more of a coming-of-age drama series than the usual sports anime. Well, the competitions were fun to watch and were quite exciting as well. However, as a sports anime fan, I was looking for something more. I guess the fact that it's an individual sport rather than a team sport made it a bit less exciting for me. The story itself was good, though.
Technically, I also like the art and animation style. I guess the fact that it's just a 12-episode anime made me a bit sad and disappointed because the story had great potential, but it felt like it was shortened and some important scenes were not well-elaborated. Anyway, let me show you the trailer below.

It wasn't bad, but it could have been better. There's also a live-action movie version of this anime, but I didn't watch it. The stage play version was quite a success in Japan, too. I just hope to watch a much longer sports anime like this. Actually, it was my second time watching this and to tell the truth, I still enjoyed it. My mom also had fun watching this, though we both hoped we understood the rules and scoring of the said sport more. haha
That's it for this post. :) See you around! ^^
