Surprised!…..My Actifit Report Card: July 18 2024

Yesterday when I stopped by the post office, there was a padded envelope in the box. I knew without even looking at the return address who it was from! @silversaver888 is like the sister I never had! She has been a true friend on the internet and has a special place in my heart as well as @silvertop’s. She and I had had a discussion about the 2007 Utah state quarter that was depicting the pounding of the Gokden Spike where the Central Pacific and the Union Pacific Railroads met at Promontory Point in Utah. This completed the Transcontinental Railroad.

I knew she was sending the quarter. What I didn’t realize was that it was a silver proof quarter! I am so happy to have this!

It is a striking proof with the mirror finish and frosted bust of George Washington and of course, the trains and the spike. I love it!

She knows I have this thing for anything western themed and especially buffalos! So I was surprised when I discovered in addition to the quarter, an Asahi Buffalo silver round!

This is a replica of the beloved Indian Head Nickel a design that is much loved by many. The obverse has the bust of a Native American and the reverse is the western iconic buffalo. I have many buffalo rounds but none like this one, minted by Asahi Mint.

She enclosed this lovely note:

It says: Dearest Elizabethbit,

The nice thing about proof coins is that the details of design comes out better than business strikes even when the coin is small.

But the Asahi Buffalo is something else altogether. It is the exact replica of the nickel American Indian head and Buffalo and completely white! Enjoy the coins!!! Love SilverSaver

The Utah Train quarter dollar I will remember every time either of you two show train related photos as you have in the past.

Some know and some don't, but we have been so into trains, at one point, we actually had a model train store in Ohio. We sold all scales from Z scale to G scale and in between! We've gone up 4WD railroad beds with 3000' drop offs and if someone was coming down while you were going up, you or they had to pull off somewhere as close to the rock wall as you could so one or the other could pass!
